Vattenfall Carré: open-plan architecture meets cutting-edge access control
Foyer access control and entrance systems: security without compromising sophistication
Vattenfall is one of Europe’s largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat, with approximately 20,000 employees. Its new German headquarters in the Suedkreuz Berlin (SXB) building can accommodate some 1,600 staff members. In 2022, the innovative hybrid timber construction was crowned Germany’s most sustainable office building by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Access control
Vattenfall depends on our Kaba exos access control system for its German locations, and its new building is no exception. No one is permitted to enter without scanning an ID on the access reader. After passing through an exterior door, everyone must go through two large Geryon SRDs (security revolving doors) that help conserve energy. Employees clock in and out at the 96 00 time recording stations just past the revolving doors.
Entrance system
An Argus 60 sensor barrier with dual passage was installed in the main entrance for access control. Visitors are issued a visitor ID at the reception desk, which allows them to pass through the barrier. Atanassow & Co. Zugangs- und Sicherheitssysteme GmbH of Berlin oversaw the entire process, from project planning to delivery through installation and commissioning of the entrance systems and revolving doors.
Sensor barriers for the foyer without sacrificing style
When transparency, color choices and functionality matter, our Argus 60 sensor barriers are the clear winner. Vattenfall paid careful attention to aesthetics in the decision-making process. Thanks to their clean lines and rounded corners, the Argus sensor barriers are integrated seamlessly into the foyer’s design. Two slim structures and glass doors that appear weightless form a symmetrical unit, and their placement in the vestibule allows for an open and inviting atmosphere.
