dormakaba’s K7 time recording terminal generation and cloud-based access solution skyra receive German Design Award 2025

With its global reach and international recognition, the German Design Award is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the design landscape across industries. The international jury has now awarded dormakaba's new K7 time recording terminal generation and the cloud-based access solution skyra with a "Winner" award for outstanding design quality in the category of Excellent Product Design – Building and Elements.
The two awards were presented to Bernhard Heitz, Strategic Product Design at dormakaba, at the award ceremony on 7 February 2025, in Frankfurt am Main.

The new dormakaba terminals 96 00 and 98 00 of the new K7 series support individual working time models, meet the specific needs of employers, and are designed to adapt to various requirements and display designs. The terminals are flexible, future-proof, easy to integrate, and sustainable. The robust terminals operate energy-efficiently with a proximity sensor. Reparability was a key consideration in the design, ensuring sustainable maintenance and long-term functionality.
The smart, cloud-based access solution skyra ensures secure, easy access to dispersed locations of critical infrastructure. The skyra portfolio includes a variety of cylinder lock versions for every locking situation and a rechargeable key that communicates access rights and locking information with the cloud service via the mobile app. Technicians receive access rights on their smartphones and can transfer them to the skyra key via Bluetooth at any time. On-site, the skyra key powers the door cylinder and grants access, even without network coverage or battery.
